The athletic component of ASAD is designed and delivered in partnership with provincial and national sports organizations to ensure alignment with the appropriate athlete development pathway (age and stage). Students can earn up to two Physical Education credits per academic year.
Athletic training at ASAD comprises:
- Sport Specific Technical Training
- Strength and Conditioning
- Sports Medicine
- Nutrition Seminars
- Sports Psychology
- Athlete Mental Health Awareness Training and Support
- Physical Literacy Programming
ASAD student athletes are encouraged to participate on their high school sport teams. Because all ASAD student athletes attend the home school of their current residence, many remain eligible for regional and provincial high school sport competition.
ASAD coaches are recommended by their respective Provincial or National Sports Organizations and are certified through the National Coach Certification Program or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NCCP or CSCS) at the Train to Compete level.
