Our Employment Services focus on assessing individuals’ skills, goals, values, and strengths in relation to work. Individuals are supported to develop knowledge and skills that are needed to prepare for, obtain and maintain employment.

Employment Coaching Services
Our Employment Counsellors support and guide individuals to gain the skills and knowledge needed to be successful at work and maintain employment, with the goal of full independence in the workplace.

Job Development Services
Our department works together to make a positive impact on the community by highlighting the strengths of individuals using our services.

Using our job development services, you will work with the Employment Team to search for and apply to meaningful employment opportunities in the community. Job searching and applications can be completed at home or in-person with an Employment Counsellor. To join our waitlist, please email empservices@abilitiescentre.org
 

Employment Workshops
The Abilities Centre offers free Employment Workshops. Workshops include guided learning and hands-on practice related to the topic. Workshops encourage discussion and learning by attendees. Topics include resume building, professional communication, workplace accommodations, interview skills, and more!

S.T.E.P - Skills Training & Employment Preparation
S.T.E.P. is a 6-week, strengths-based program for youth 16–29 with disabilities designed to increase job readiness. Through hands-on learning and networking opportunities, participants build confidence in self-advocacy, digital literacy, and teamwork. Sessions include workplace readiness, professional goal setting, accommodations, and job searching. 

Program Cost: $650 + tax & fees

Community Connections
Community Connections is a 10-week program for individuals 14+ with disabilities focused on building skills for independence, confidence, and active participation in the community. Participants develop functional skills in community navigation, money education, and decision-making, paired with weekly experiential learning trips. A strong focus is on transit awareness, with participants regularly taking public transit to destinations like grocery stores, restaurants, libraries, and more.

Program Cost: $1,600 + tax & fees
