February is Therapeutic Recreation awareness month. Therapeutic Recreation uses community and activity-based programming to improve wellbeing, physical and mental health as well as functional capacity for individuals. Much like other professions (such as Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy) TR uses a goal-oriented, evidence-based approach with a focus on recreation and play.
Week 1
Move your body! Whether that is going for a walk, dancing to your favourite song or joining a fitness class
Week 2
Connect with a friend or family member! Take time to call or send a kind message
Week 3
Let your creative side flow! Spend time painting, drawing, etc.
Week 4
Take time for yourself, journal, meditate or engage in some yoga
