Mr. Wafer joined the Board of Directors of Abilities Centre in 2014 and has served as Board Chair since 2018.

With Mark’s entrepreneurial spirit as a business owner, he brings his leadership skills and lived experience to propel Abilities Centre into a phase of unprecedented growth.  The most important strategic advantage Mark brings to this role is his international recognition and expertise in the economics of inclusion.

He is an advisor to both the provincial and federal governments on accessibility and vocational strategies. He is an active contributor to Canada’s national disability employment strategy and reforms to basic income for Canada’s disabled.

Abilities Centre board and staff would like to extend a sincere thank you to Stuart for his dedication and important contributions to the organization and positioning it for future growth. We wish him every success in his new role.

“I am excited to work closely with the senior management team to continue breaking down barriers to inclusion. I am confident the individuals we have in place will bring our message of using accessibility to unlock potential to all Canadians.”
- Mark Wafer, Interim President & CEO Abilities Centre.

“Mark is the right person to tell our story of inclusion. We are excited to continue scaling our impact across Canada, while using our world-class innovation hub to engage lived experience to build more inclusive communities where Canadians live, work and play.”
-Ross Ste-Croix, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Abilities Centre.
