Lesson Plan

Flowers-1.jpgFlowers-2.jpgFlowers-3.jpgFlowers-4.jpgFlowers-5.jpg

  1. Cut the egg carton into individual squares.
  2. Paint or colour each individual piece.
  3. Glue a popsicle stick to the bottom of each flower or cut a hole in the bottom and push a straw through to make the stem.
  4. Scrunch up a small piece of construction paper for the middle of the flower.
  5. Put a dab of glue on the construction paper and attach it to the center of the flower. Once all of the flowers are made, put them into a jar or a cup to make a full bouquet of flowers.

Variations:

 Make it harder:
Cut designs in the flowers; stack them to create a bigger flower
Write a word on each petal that represents your mom

Simplify it:
Glue the flowers on construction paper and draw the stems
Work as a team with your family: one person can cut, one person can colour, one person can glue and everyone presents to mom

Materials:
No paint? You can colour the egg carton pieces with markers or crayons
No stems? You can use sticks from outside, skewers or draw them on the paper
No egg carton? Draw, colour and cut out different colour/size petals and add them to your paper stems
