David was a pioneer in changing the narrative around accessibility in Canada and has been one of the longest serving Lieutenant Governors in Ontario history.

David was an early supporter of the Abilities Centre along with his brother Richard who helped advise the Centre several years ago.

"His Honour was a firm supporter of the Abilities Centre from its inception. He was an advisor to the CEO and the founders of the Centre for many years. I had the distinct honour to travel and work with David to create change in the lives of the disabled. He was a true friend and will be missed," Mark Wafer, Interim President and CEO Abilities Centre.

The Abilities Centre sends our condolences and best wishes to David’s wife Ruth Ann, their three sons, Jonathan, Robert, Michael and the entire Onley family.
