Over the course of the COVID-19 Pandemic we strived to ensure the health and well-being of our community.
These extraordinary times have called for extraordinary measures to protect all people in our Centre and community, especially those who are most vulnerable. Through the various lockdowns and provincial restrictions, AC has continued our mission of making our community more accessible and inclusive for people of all abilities, such as building out virtual programming and membership, implementing new health and safety protocols and following government guidelines for in-person programming as appropriate.

Provincial Exemption for Persons with Disability - Physical Therapy
Abilities Centre and Canadian Disability Participation Project (CDPP) partnered in building the COVID-19 National Disability Survey. Results from the COVID-19 National Disability Survey helped inform the amendment made by the Government of Ontario through the regulations to the Reopening Ontario Act. This has allowed the Abilities Centre to be able to continue physical therapy sessions for people with disabilities throughout the lockdown. The amendment enables people with disabilities to access physical therapy at recreation centres such as Abilities Centre. It is a priority that Abilities Centre members with physical therapy prescriptions are able to continue to receive critical services at this most trying time in life, and we continue to abide by all health and safety protocols.
