National Disability Employment Awareness month is during October with a goal to promote employment inclusion for people who experience disability and to celebrate the many and varied contributions of workers with disabilities.

Cameron, one of our active program participants and now an employee, speaks to his experience working with a disability and his journey to employment:

The Abilities Centre helped me find employment by helping me to write a resume, how to prepare myself for a job interview, then at the end of the course Abilities Centre put me in the right direction, to find a job.

The support team at Connect2Work, were kind individuals very helpful would answer any questions I had. When I first started working at the Abilities Center, the employees were welcoming and kind, they took their time to show me the tasks of the job, and let me shadow them so I could learn the job. I’m also a special Olympian athlete. Sports have always been a part of my life, and I always wanted to work in the sports environment. I feel comfortable, I don't feel as stressed, I like meeting all people that come into the Abilities Center and all of the co-workers that I work with. Also I feel so happy working at such a amazing place.

Thank You for giving me the opportunity
