WHITBY, ON – The Abilities Centre, an incubator for accessibility and inclusion, announced the full schedule for the National Accessibility Week Conference, taking place May 26-31, 2025 at the world-class facility. This week-long celebration will bring together community leaders, organizations, and changemakers for an exciting series of events, workshops, and activities that champion accessibility and inclusion.

National Accessibility Week is all about building a better, barrier-free world and Abilities Centre is committed to leading the way.  This year’s dynamic in-person schedule features more than 15 events, from the third annual Accessibility Awards Night to community-wide showcases that highlight the incredible work happening across all departments. Whether you're looking to connect, learn, or celebrate, there’s something for everyone.

“National Accessibility Week is a time for our entire community to come together, share ideas, and recognize the impact of our work,” shares Michael Cvitkovic, president and chief executive officer, Abilities Centre. “Our Conference shines a spotlight on the ideas and partnerships driving accessibility and inclusion across communities.”

Highlights of the week include:

  • Keynote Presentation (Monday, May 26) - Kick off the week with inspiring stories and big-picture vision featuring Olympian Mariam Abdul-Rashid, disability advocate Emilee Schevers, and Abilities Centre President & CEO Michael Cvitkovic.
  • Inclusive Sport Try-It Events – Give it a go with Try-It Throwball (Monday, May 26) presented by the Throwball Federation of Canada, along with a Wheelchair Basketball session (Tuesday, May 27) led by inclusive sport experts.
  • Durham Accessibility Conference (Wednesday, May 28) - A collaboration with the Region of Durham, exploring the power of inclusion in the workplace.
  • Research Showcase & Student Competition (Thursday, May 29) – Spotlighting cutting-edge accessibility research and the next generation of leaders.
  • Accessibility Awards Night (Thursday, May 29) – Celebrate the champions of accessibility with a ticketed evening recognizing individuals and organizations making an exceptional impact.
  • Employment Services Career & Information Fair (Saturday, May 31) – Build your skills, boost your confidence, and get job-ready.
  • Community Celebrations – Don’t miss our Birthday Bash (Friday May 30) as we toast to another year of Abilities Centre and National Accessibility Week. The day also includes the Thrive™ Celebration, highlighting the achievements of youth participants in the program. Plus, enjoy facility tours, community events, and family-friendly activities all week long. 

With a mix of free and ticketed events, the National Accessibility Week Conference is open to the public and designed with accessibility in mind.
