Abilities Centre is an internationally renowned, innovative community hub where people of all ages and abilities can enrich their lives by engaging in social, health, and cultural programs. In partnership with federal and provincial levels of government, the Region of Durham and the Town of Whitby, and supported by the generosity of many people, corporations and community organizations, Abilities Centre opened its doors in June 2012.

Today, Abilities Centre serves more than 100,000 visitors each year, helping people of all abilities pursue their goals. Abilities Centre is developing programs and services to enhance health and well-being, social inclusion and economic participation for all citizens and bringing their model to life across the country. With a focus on improving quality of life, Abilities Centre delivers programs and services in the areas of education, employment, sport, recreation & leisure, research and life skills. Abilities Centre is committed to building inclusive and accessible communities. Using their multi-award winning, fully accessible 125,000-square-foot facility as an inclusion incubator, they develop evidence-based programs and services that can be scaled locally, provincially, nationally and globally. President and Chief Executive Officer

The new President and Chief Executive Officer of Abilities Centre (AC) will lead a growing and transformative organization with boundless opportunities. Together with a committed and passionate Board, they will create a clear and compelling vision in alignment with the Mission of the organization and, together with a strong Leadership Team and talented cross-functional staff complement, will deliver on the organization’s strategic objectives. The successful candidate will, at a minimum, possess an Undergraduate Degree and, in the ideal, a Masters Degree, together with a solid track record of leadership in a complex public sector environment. This is an opportunity for a passionate and engaging leader who has big aspirations to impact the lives of Canadians.
