We are thrilled to share the great news that 3 of Abilities Centre’s members and program participants have been selected to represent Team Canada at the Special Olympic World Winter Games in Kazan, Russia in 2022. Alex Cappelitti: Speed Skating

Alex has been selected as one of only 16 speed skaters to represent Team Canada at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Kazan Russia in Jan. 2022.  Thanks to both Victoria (ASAD) and Kelsey (Thrive) at Abilities Centre, he has been able to begin his intense training as it hasn’t been easy with the pandemic!  
 
Catherine Partlow, Snowshoeing:

Attended the Special Olympics World Summer Games in 2003, 2007, 2011, and 2015. She competed in track and has a total of 9 medals- 1 bronze, 2 silvers and 6 gold.
She’s currently part of team Canada training squad for the 2022 Special Olympics World Winter Games to be held in Kazan,  Russia where she will be competing in Snowshoeing.  
Catherine feels that Abilities Centre is a safe place to train within her community and she feels supported by the staff.
 
Grace Morris, Figure Skating

Grace was selected to represent Canada in the 2022 World Games in Russia for Figure Skating! As one of ASAD’s IAD Stream Students, Grace attends ASAD at Abilities Centre in the mornings to specifically to train for figure skating and the upcoming World Games in Russia and then  attend my regular school in the afternoons.
